MAC-19: Face Masks vs. Face Shields.

Yes, there are several arguments concerning wearing face mask or face shield?

I think that both items will provide some specific protection from COVID -19 and other virus particles, but some more than others.

FYI. Face Masks.

01. COVID -19 virus particles size averages 125 nanometers = 0.125 microns (μm); the range is 0.06 μm to .14 μm; one needs an electron microscope to see a Covid-19 virus particle. The hoarded N 95 face mask filters down to 0.3 μm. So, N 95 face mask block few, if any, virions (virus particles). Regular surgical mask are not much better in this situation. Surgical mask has shown Not to adequately filter against aerosol measuring from 0.9 to 3.1 μm. Other researchers have shown that particles from 0.04 – 0.2 μm can penetrate surgical masks.

02. OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) states:
“While normal atmosphere contains between 20.8 and 21 percent oxygen, OSHA defines as oxygen deficiency any atmosphere that contains less than 19.5 percent oxygen. In June 2020, Ohio State Senator Nino Vitale, using an RKI GX 2009 oxygen sensor made by RKI Instrument (the same sensor used by OSHA), conducted on outdoor test with several students wearing different types of masks. The sensor showed atmospheric oxygen at 20.9 percent, but when it was placed under the mask, it registered between 17.1 and 18.1 percent of oxygen, well below OSHA’s safety standard.

Results:

By wearing a face mask for any prolong time, you risk health issues in several areas.

A, Reduction in oxygen intake. Oxygen is a huge part of our good immune system that fights viruses, bacterial, and by reducing oxygen you also reducing immune system.

B, Increase breathing-in excessive carbon dioxide., will result in loss of consciousness, concentration and basic overall human functions, physical and mental.

C, Face masks encourage the fomite transmission (“infected” articles -to- hand-to- face transmission of viruses)

D, Disposable Face masks are NOT reusable or recyclable.

E, Face masks are extremely uncomfortable, itchy, and always moist, therefore many masks are used during single shift, and therefore are not cost effective.

F, Face Masks also reduce the sound of your voice during a conversation with coworkers, resulting in possible communication errors.

FYI. MAC-19 Face Shields.

By using a Face Shield, you will eliminate most problems associated with the use of Face Mask. Also, all manufacturing facilities are required for everyone to wear safety glasses, our face shields can be use with all personal standard and safety glasses.

Face Shields frames can be sterilized up to 99.9 percent by using our UV-C light chamber, therefore the frames are re-usable, and cost effective.

The only item disposed, will be the face shield. The Face Shield is fabricated using 3M Corp. anti-fog, anti -fungi, 6 mil thick Polycarbonate plastic that is 100 percent recyclable.

  • We offer several styles and color of the Face Shield Frames.
  • One size fit all and is amazingly easy to add Shield to the Frames.

Present PPE requirements for entering all manufacturing facilities.

A.) Safety Glasses
Cost:$10.00 / 20.00 ea. Reusable item either wash down or steralized with UV-C.

B.) Face mask.
Cost:Allergen, $.50 / 1.00 ea. 3M KN-95, $1.00 / 2.50 ea
Face Masks are Disposable item, but NOT recycleble.

Important Note: During the height of the pandemic, most Face Masks were quickly sold out and the prices always’s go up.Supply chain is always affected, minimizing inventory for mandatory /disposable PPE product.
